G U I D E L I N E S
Submissions are always welcome!
Although each article is carefully considered, the editor and her family may not necessarily agree with all the opinions expressed. The editors retain the right to edit or reject any submission as the Lord leads.
We welcome submissions such as thematic or non-thematic articles, letters, interviews, poems, pictures & art, book reviews, The Young Maid questions and/or replies (homemaking-related), prayer requests, and craft ideas/projects.
We consider submissions from those who do not subscribe - though it would be better if you see at least one issue of KBR before submitting, to get the idea of submissions we prefer.
Though the majority of KBR readers and contributors are young ladies, we welcome older women also to join us and to write for the edification of us younger girls, as Titus 2 instructs the older women to teach and share with the younger.
»Please use Philippians 4:8 as a guideline—seeking to use your writings to inspire and encourage readers toward a closer walk with Christ.
»It is recommended that writers ask their parents (or wives, their husbands) to proof-read their submissions before submitting them, so that they have their authority's approval and input. Also, since young ladies are their parent's ambassador in their writings, they should seek to represent them well.
»We prefer that you use the KJV Bible for Scriptures references in articles.
»We like having a picture of the author to print along with a short bio at the end of their submission, but this is not required.
»Illustrating artwork and pictures are very welcome.
»We publish reviews of books that have a moral and Godly purpose and theme. We want each review to encourage others closer to Christ. Though we are careful about reviews published, we are not able to read each book recommended. We do not publish movie reviews.
»While we do publish some ads for handmade items and publications of our readers, we do not accept ads advertising the reselling commercial goods/books.
»Submissions are preferably sent by e-mail. Microsoft Word attachments are fine, text files, or typed in the email. Pictures of scenery, subscribers and/or their family are always enjoyed. Submissions may also be sent by regular mail if that is easier for you; they can be returned if you include SASE.
»Submissions that do not fit in the printed issue may be added to KBR’s website, so let us know if you’d rather us not post it here. (We will not post last names on the website unless permission is granted.)
Please do not feel discouraged by these guidelines. The purpose of KBR is to provide pure encouragement to other young ladies, and your submissions help fulfill this with each issue.
» Reprinting Policy
Readers of KBR are welcome to copy articles from KBR to share with personal friends. But we ask that you do not reprint any material from KBR issues in your own publication or website. We want original material printed in KBR that is not duplicated in other places. If you are an author and would like to submit to KBR, please keep in mind that we prefer that you do not submit that submission to another magazine too. Thank you for respecting this policy!
